Rwanda will return from the 14th International Civil Aviation Organization Air Services Agreement Negotiations with a full house. Between 5 and 8 December 2022, the country signed air services agreements with several countries, including Suriname, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Senegal, Morocco and Côte d'Ivoire.
"The agreement establishes a framework between Rwanda's airlines and each of the other signatories to operate air services to/from their respective city airports," says the Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA).
These BASAs follow those signed with Austria, New Zealand and Mauritania in July, April and March. Overall, Rwanda is a regular in these agreements. To date, it has already concluded more than one hundred BASAs with countries from all regions of the world, and ratified more than fifty of them.
The aim is to promote trade with these countries. In addition, the East African country is considering waiving visa fees for citizens of African Union (AU), Francophonie and Commonwealth member countries.
