Airlink to resume flights between South Africa and Madagascar Airlink to resume flights between South Africa and Madagascar

South African regional carrier Airlink is set to resume operations between South Africa and Madagascar. According to Rodger Foster, Airlink CEO and managing director, the airline "welcomes the Madagascar government’s lifting of the prohibition which lets us [Airlink] re-establish these air services that are vitally important economic, trade and tourism connections between the two countries."

Effective 30 January 2023, Airlink will operate one weekly flight on Mondays between OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg and Ivato International Airport (TNR) in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. From 14 February 2023, the airline will increase the service to three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays with the intention of re-instating daily services as demand increases. Flights between South Africa and Madagascar were suspended for almost three years.

As of 14 February 2023, the same schedule will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
