To boost tourism in Antigua and Barbuda, the Antiguan government promoted the creation of Antigua Airways in late 2022, in a public-private partnership with Nigerian investors.

Unwittingly, the airline has contributed to the growth of irregular migration between Africa and America, embarrassing the small Caribbean state.
