ITB Berlin presented us a good platform to market Botswana
The Botswana Tourism Organisation's (BTO) CEO, Tshoganetso Carl-Ponoesele, highlighted the significant opportunity that the 2023 ITB Berlin fair provided for marketing and promoting Botswana to the global tourism industry.
Carl-Ponoesele, who led her nation's public and private tourism representatives at the event, shared with VoyagesAfriq in an interview that ITB Berlin allowed them to tap into the German market, which is becoming increasingly crucial in expediting their tourism revival efforts.
She emphasized that Germany is among their top five markets and plays a vital role in their product offerings. Carl-Ponoesele believes that their presence at the fair will help accelerate recovery within the German market.
The BTO CEO also expressed optimism that the interest generated by Botswana at the fair would result in increased international visitor numbers in the coming years.
Carl-Ponoesele elaborated on the positive impact of ITB Berlin on Botswana's tourism sector, noting the significant foot traffic at their stand and the numerous meetings between operators and buyers. She expressed hope that this trade fair would lead to a rise in visitor arrivals over the next two to three years.
