At Expedia Group, we recognize that travel has the power to do good, but we also acknowledge the environmental impact that the industry can have. To preserve the destinations our travelers love, we believe that climate action and sustainability are essential for the future of our industry.

Our travelers have shown a clear demand for more sustainable options, with sustainability and eco-friendliness mentioned twice as often in feedback last year. In response, we have signed the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Travel and Tourism and launched our Open World social impact and sustainability strategy, with a focus on inclusive access, economic mobility, and a responsible future for tourism.

Under the Prosperous Planet pillar of our strategy, we are committed to decarbonizing our operations, innovating sustainable solutions for travel, and empowering travelers to act sustainably. To achieve this, we are developing a Climate Action Plan that outlines six core elements: setting science-aligned targets, evaluating climate risk, supporting climate adaptation, advancing industry standards, promoting sustainable travel options, and supporting suppliers in offering more sustainable offerings.

We believe that collaboration is crucial in driving meaningful change, and we are committed to empowering both travelers and partners to make more sustainable choices. As part of this, we have partnered with the Travel Foundation to launch a capacity-building program for destination marketing and management organizations, creating climate champions that can apply a sustainability lens to strategic planning and decision-making.

We also recognize that travelers increasingly want options that align with their values, and we are working to provide credible and clear information on sustainability, including carbon estimates and information on eco-friendly practices. We are developing product features such as displaying flight emissions, sustainability practices of hotels, and electric and hybrid vehicle filters for car rentals.
