Proflight Zambia to add a Boeing 737-500 to fleet
Proflight Zambia, a Zambian airline, has increased its return flights from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) in Lusaka to OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg. As a result, the route between the two cities now has more flights operated by Zambian airlines than South African ones.
The airline now offers three daily flights seven days a week, using its three 50-seater Bombardier Aerospace aircraft. To meet the growing demand, Proflight Zambia is introducing a 126-seat Boeing 737-500 aircraft, leased from African Charter Airline of Johannesburg, to its fleet from June 2023. The aircraft will be on an initial six-month ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance) contract, with the option to extend, as confirmed by the lessor and Proflight Zambia.
The addition of the Boeing 737-500 will significantly increase Proflight Zambia's capacity for the 2023 season. The airline will be using a total of nine aircraft to service 10 destinations, supported by 210 employees. The fleet will consist of the new 126-seater Boeing 737-500, three 50-seater Bombardier jets (one CRJ100LR and two CRJ200LRs), four 29-seater Jetstream 41, and one 18-seater Jetstream 32.
