Upgrade of the Sea Point promenade and Granger Bay parking area
The City of Cape Town has informed the public that the Sea Point promenade and Granger Bay parking area project will commence on 15 May 2023. The 12-month long project will bring about new and upgraded walkways, public art, coastal structures, a play park, parking area, lawn and coastal vegetation areas. The Granger Bay parking area will be upgraded and will be closed for public use for the duration of the construction period. Provisions for temporary traffic and pedestrian accommodation have been made and signage will be placed in affected areas.
The scheduled work for the Sea Point promenade and Granger Bay parking area project is as follows:
- Upgrading of Granger Bay parking area
- Construction of a rock revetment
- New Fort Road play park
- Additional walkways
- Additional coastal vegetation and lawn planting
- Installation of interpretive signage to give heritage information
- Public art in the Sea Point Library
