FAAN returns airlines to Lagos old terminal
Barely 10 days after the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) moved international airlines from the old international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos to the new aerodrome, the airline has returned some of the carriers to an aspect of the old terminal.
A statement by Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, Director Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, FAAN, said that the relocation of the airlines back to the old terminal received the approval of Mr. Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
According to Yakubu-Funtua, some of the airlines would now be allowed to use the D Wing terminal of the old aerodrome to complement the new terminal.
The agency stated that the reopening of the D Wing was in order to ease facilitation of passengers through the airport.
The statement added: “The use of the D Wing for processing of passengers has since commenced. The old international terminal will be renovated in phases.”
FAAN had on September 8, 2023, commenced the relocation of international airlines to the new international terminal at the airport.
The relocation came barely a week after Keyamo gave the directive to the management of FAAN to ensure the relocation of foreign airlines from the old terminal to the new aerodrome, which was commissioned on March 22, 2022, by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
