Pandhari Lodge is dilapidated, Parliament is told
Legislator Pupurai Togarepi has complained about the alleged poor standards at Pandhari Lodge, located in Glen Lorne, which is one of the hotels being used to accommodate legislators. In Zimbabwe, legislators from outside of Harare are given accommodation when they come for parliamentary business. However, when most hotels have few available rooms, legislators are often booked at Pandhari Hotel, which is struggling to attract bookings due to various reasons. However, speaking recently in Parliament, Pupurai Togarepi, who is Zanu PF Chief Whip in the National Assembly, complained about the hotel, arguing that it is now dilapidated.
”Some of the hotels end up sending Hon. Members away, like at Pandhari. It is a dilapidated hotel, and it is like people left that hotel 10 years ago. Hon. Members of Parliament go there because the hotel is flexible and nobody is using that hotel at all.”So, I am requesting you, Mr. Speaker Sir, that a permanent solution is found to protect the dignity of Members of Parliament,” he said.
Pandhari Lodge hosted Sanganai/Hlanganani cocktails
Pandhari Lodge used to be one of the go-to lodges in Harare a few years ago and would play host to the Sanganai/Hlanganani Buyers and Media Cocktail organized by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority. However, its fortunes turned for the worse when the travel expo was moved to Bulawayo, and people are also shunning it because of its distance from the central business district.
