Wike prepares for Abuja light rail launch ahead of Tinubu’s first year anniversary
On Monday evening, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),Barr. Nyesom Wike, conducted a final inspection of the Abuja light rail project facilities in preparation for President Bola Tinubu’s inauguration of commercial activities to mark his first year in office.
During an earlier inspection, Wike identified minor issues that required correction. Following the final inspection, Wike expressed satisfaction with the project’s readiness. “We are good to go for the president. It’s a promise made and a promise kept.
First of all, we are very happy that all our efforts have come to fruition. It’s no longer a story, but a reality,” Wike said.
When asked to rate President Tinubu’s performance in his first year, Wike hesitated to self-assess but acknowledged significant achievements. “So you are asking me to rate myself, however, if you say so.
You can see that Mr. President has done very well, not only in physical infrastructure but in human capital development.
Nothing in this world is better than career prospects. I am sure the civil servants in the FCT are very happy; their hopes have been rekindled. Their hopes have been restored.
“Mr. President has done very well. He is reassuring Nigerians that he is committed to delivering dividends of democracy.
There are so many areas of attention. One year is really not enough for you to expect 100 percent, but with what you’ve seen on the ground, there is hope for Nigeria.”
With the dress rehearsal completed on Monday, all is set for President Tinubu to take a ride on the Abuja light rail on Wednesday, officially marking the start of its commercial operations.
