Airport concession: Union tasks Keyamo on extant labour Airport concession: Union tasks Keyamo on extant labour

The Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP) has challenged Mr. Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development to adhere strictly with the country’s extant labour law on airports concession.

Comrade Alale Adedayo, the newly elected President of ANAP stated this over the weekend in Lagos during the inauguration of the executives. Adedayo explained that the industry unions and the ministry had an existing agreement on the workers that may be affected by the exercise.

He insisted that the union would strongly kick against anything decision taken by the minister outside the existing agreement.

However, Adedayo, while applauding the sacrifices of his predecessor, Comrade Kabir Gusau in office, assured that his tenure would see to the completion of the ongoing projects started by the former leadership.

He also assured that the welfares of its members would be of utmost priority at all times.

He said: “The foundation has been built, my team and I promise to build on the foundation already laid. We will improve on what you have left behind.

“We will also prioritise the welfare of all our members across the industry agencies. I believe we already have formidable branch chairmen who can handle issues, but the national is open to come in when the need arises.

“To our former President General, we are grateful for your sacrifices, whatever project you did not complete, we will complete it. One of such is the project of a suitable site for our secretariat, we have started to work on it and it will be settled in no time.”

Also, Gusau, the immediate past President of ANAP, which served the association between 2019 and 2024, recalled how the association started and the challenges it faced at its teething stage.

He pointed out that the position of the union’s President was more of a sacrifice and putting of members first to gain their trust and loyalty.

He appealed to members to show absolute loyalty to the new executives, insisting that was the only ingredient to move the association to greater heights.

The chairman of the various branches in the aviation agencies were present at the inauguration and recounted their successes as well as their support to the new executives.
