The Akwaaba Travel Market, in partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority, is set to host the 7th edition of the Accra Weizo West African Travel Expo, a premier travel event aimed at promoting seamless travel within West Africa.

The event, which has been a driving force in encouraging West Africans to explore their own region, will take place from June 24th to 28th. This year’s edition promises to be an exciting one, with a 4-nation road trip that will take delegates through Benin Republic, Togo, and Ghana.

The journey will begin on June 24th, with a visit to Benin Republic, followed by a stop in Togo on June 25th, and finally, a visit to Akosombo, Ghana on June 26th. The group will arrive in Accra on June 27th, where they will participate in the Accra Weizo conference and exhibition at the Accra City Hotel on June 28th.

The event will bring together 20 tour and travel professionals from Nigeria, who will be joined by 15 tour operators from Ghana, Benin, and Togo at the Seme border. The group will enjoy a range of activities, including a welcome cocktail by Kempinski Hotel, night life, boat cruise, B2B networking, Balafon Award of Excellence, and exhibitions.

The event is also supported by GOTA Voyages Benin, Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA), ABC Transport, Accra City Hotel, and Royal Senchi Resorts, and powered by Akwaaba African Travel Market and ATQ News.

Past editions of Accra Weizo have attracted a range of high-profile attendees, including His Royal Highness, Nene Nagai Kassa VIII, Honourable Mike A. Gizo, Chief of Agomeda and President of Shai Traditional, members of the diplomatic corps in Ghana, including High Commissioners and Ambassadors from South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.

The Accra Weizo travel expo has a rich history, having returned in 2023 after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event has been instrumental in promoting West African tourism and providing a platform for tour operators to network and showcase their products.

This year’s edition promises to be an exciting one, with a range of activities and attractions that will make it a memorable experience for delegates. With its focus on promoting seamless travel within West Africa, Accra Weizo is an event that is not to be missed.
