NCAA confirms Arik Air’s fleet remains operational amidst legal grounding of three planes
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed that it has not suspended Arik Air’s flight operations as previously reported.
The authority clarified that while three of Arik Air’s aircraft have been grounded due to a court order related to the airline’s financial obligations, this action does not affect the operation of the airline’s remaining fleet.
In a statement, NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu, emphasized that the grounding of the specific aircraft—identified as 5NMJF, 5NMJQ, and 5NBKX—does not equate to a suspension of Arik Air’s overall operations by either the NCAA or the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, contrary to some reports.
Achimugu noted that the NCAA is obligated to adhere to the court’s ruling following the resolution of the case at the Supreme Court, ensuring that all regulatory and safety standards are met.
He says, the NCAA appreciates the public’s patience and understanding as Arik Air navigates this situation with minimal disruption to its services.
