Entebbe Airport passenger traffic hits record high in August
The second highest figure recorded at Entebbe International Airport in a single month was a total of 198,961, an average of 6,418 per day, in December 2023. Entebbe International Airport facilitated a total of 212,701 international passengers in August 2024, an average of 6,861 passengers per day, latest figures shows.
The passenger figure for August is the highest recorded in the history of the airport in a single month. According to figures by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), of the total passengers, 108,055 were departing, while 104,646 were arriving.
The second highest figure recorded at Entebbe International Airport in a single month was a total of 198,961, an average of 6,418 per day, in December 2023. The third highest was in July 2024, when the airport recorded 100,767 arriving and 95,142 departing passengers, a total of 195,909, an average of 6,319 per day.
The passenger traffic handled in August 2023 ranks fourth highest in a single month at a total of 191,507 international passengers, an average of 6,177 per day. In relation to cargo, Entebbe handled 3,525 metric tones of exports and 1,885 metric tones of imports, a total of 5,410 metric tones in August 2024.
Over the past years, the national career, Uganda Airlines has launched a series of flight routes, leading to increased departures and arrivals at Entebbe. Just days ago, the airline launched flights to Nigeria's administrative capital Abuja, just a year after it began services to Lagos, West African country's commercial hub.
The carrier is expected to expand flight routes to 15 more destinations.
