TAAG – Angola Airlines is not just spreading wings TAAG – Angola Airlines is not just spreading wings

TAAG – Angola Airlines is experiencing a period of transformation and modernization, accommodating itself in the new competitive context of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), at the same time foreseeing to improve operational efficiency and quality of service provided to the traveling public and consignees.

Currently, the airline is engaged in a major stage of its history, namely the transfer to the new Hub, António Agostinho Neto International Airport (NBJ).

The new chapter is a witness of the airline´s journey of continuous improvement, and a sign of progress nationally and continent-wide, that provide multiplier effect to several sectors of the economy namely tourism, trade and industry by operating a modern fleet.

The upcoming transfer of TAAG – Angola Airlines to the new airport brings with it great challenges. The company is taking all necessary steps within ongoing Operation Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) process led by the ministry of transport. It is true that all changes require the ability to adapt to, and acceptance of, new realities. TAAG – Angola Airlines team is coping with the adjustment accordingly. The relocation of services will not result in disruption of operations of the entire existing logistics chain and air transport network, neither in quality nor in quantity, rather the event will make the airline proudly deliver more acceptable services.

The transfer of commercial passenger and air cargo flights departing/arriving at NBJ, for all types of services, namely domestic, continental and intercontinental will require the maximum commitment and permanent consultation between TAAG – Angola Airlines and the various stakeholders of the civil aviation ecosystem of which air transport is an integral part. The joint effort is made concomitantly with the gradual entry into operation of a more economical fleet complying with requirements on environment sustainability.

Nothing is left behind. TAAG – Angola Airlines is committed to ensuring that critical needs for a successful transfer such as safety, security, quality control and quality assurance, regularity, etc… are safeguarded while procedures related to the new hub, among other aspects, are developed.

Given the relevance of SAATM and the urgency of contributing to the necessary improvements of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as well as the development of tourism, TAAG – Angola Airlines is positioning to provide services with shorter routes and shorter travel times that assist air transport users in capitalizing on each journey experience in terms of cost, time and distance.

Furthermore, the NBJ airport strategically located between the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) and the Economic Community for Central African States (ECCAS) provides an adjacent Special Economic Zone (ZEE). An aerotropolis will be erected and operationalized in the short term.

The intra-Africa routing intends to manage and maximize market proximity, focusing on continuous improvement of customer experience and sustainable business development. Commercial arrangements leading towards complementarity in services among SAATM member Airlines is critical to connect the entire continent and improve connectivity for vacation, leisure, corporate business and education destinations.

The general objective of TAAG – Angola Airlines on the continental network is to provide the customer with an excellent journey at the lowest possible price and to transform the current time-consuming network.

The African traveling and business community need an accelerated mobility of people, goods and services within SAATM. Therefore, the current modus operandi of the market needs to migrate to a new network, based on proven industry best practices applied in other similar markets, supporting the simplification, modernization and optimization of travel management by airlines.
