Neos Airlines re-establishes direct Milan-Lagos flights
On 30 October, Neos Airlines proudly resumed direct flights between Milan, Italy, and Lagos, Nigeria, marking a significant milestone as this is the first such service since Alitalia ceased operations on this route several years ago.
The inaugural flight, designated as NO3396, was operated by a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft registered as EI-RZB. This flight took off from Milan Malpensa Airport and successfully arrived at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport, where it was warmly welcomed by dignitaries from both nations, celebrating the reconnection of these two vibrant cities. The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, emphasized the positive economic ramifications of this new route, highlighting its potential to create jobs and enhance trade opportunities between Nigeria and Italy.
This direct connection is anticipated to streamline travel for business and trade, thereby further integrating Nigeria with European markets. The establishment of this flight service is expected to contribute positively to Nigeria’s GDP, fostering economic growth and development. In addition to the economic benefits, the resumption of flights is likely to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries, allowing for increased tourism and exchange of ideas.
The direct flights will not only facilitate easier travel for business professionals but also for families and individuals wishing to connect with loved ones across borders. As Neos Airlines plans to operate this route, it is expected that the frequency of flights may increase in response to demand, further enhancing connectivity between Italy and Nigeria. Overall, the return of direct flights between Milan and Lagos represents a significant step forward in re-establishing vital links between these two nations, paving the way for a new era of collaboration and mutual benefit.
