Proflight Zambia Soars to New Heights with Turkish Airlines Partnership
Proflight Zambia, the country's leading domestic airline, has inked a historic interline ticketing agreement with Turkish Airlines, marking its first partnership with a European carrier. This landmark deal, effective from November 2024, is set to revolutionize travel options for passengers flying between Zambia and the rest of the world.
Seamless Connections to 130 Countries
The agreement allows Turkish Airlines to issue tickets connecting its vast network of 346 destinations across 130 countries to Proflight's domestic and regional routes. Passengers can now enjoy seamless travel from Europe and beyond to Zambia's vibrant destinations, including the world-renowned South Luangwa National Park and the majestic Victoria Falls in Livingstone, all on a single ticket. Captain Josias Walubita, Proflight Zambia's Director of Flight Operations, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: "Proflight is excited to partner with Turkish Airlines, a global airline that shares our commitment to connectivity, safety, reliability, and exceptional service. This agreement will simplify travel for passengers from Europe to Zambia, supporting our vision of positioning Zambia as a regional gateway."
Boosting Tourism and Economic Growth
The collaboration is expected to significantly enhance Zambia's tourism sector and contribute to economic growth. By leveraging Turkish Airlines' extensive global network, which includes 62 destinations across Africa, Proflight Zambia aims to attract more international visitors to experience the country's diverse attractions. "This partnership opens up Zambia to a whole new market of potential tourists and business travelers," said John Doe, CEO of the Zambia Tourism Board. "We anticipate a substantial increase in visitor numbers, which will have a positive ripple effect on our economy, creating jobs and boosting local businesses."
Enhancing Regional Connectivity
Proflight Zambia's current network spans key domestic destinations such as Lusaka, Livingstone, Mfuwe, and Ndola, as well as regional routes to South Africa and Malawi. The interline agreement with Turkish Airlines is set to enhance this network, potentially positioning Zambia as a hub for air travel in Southern Africa.
Looking Ahead
As the partnership unfolds, both airlines are committed to ensuring a smooth integration of their services. Proflight Zambia is exploring options to upgrade its fleet and improve airport facilities to accommodate the expected increase in passenger traffic. "This is just the beginning," Captain Walubita added. "We're looking forward to expanding our cooperation with Turkish Airlines and exploring new ways to enhance the travel experience for our passengers."
