Air France-KLM Enhances Southern Africa Connectivity with New Codeshare Agreement Air France-KLM Enhances Southern Africa Connectivity with New Codeshare Agreement

The Air France-KLM Group, a prominent French-Dutch multinational airline holding company, has officially launched a new codeshare agreement with Airlink, a regional airline based in South Africa. This partnership took effect on December 3, 2024, and marks a significant step toward enhancing travel options for passengers.

This commercial collaboration significantly improves connectivity for travelers, allowing customers of both Air France and KLM to access a wide array of destinations across Southern Africa. The agreement facilitates seamless travel through key gateways such as OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg and Cape Town International Airport (CPT) in Cape Town.

Currently, the codeshare arrangement is operational on 14 domestic destinations within South Africa, providing passengers with more choices for their travel itineraries. Looking ahead, Air France-KLM and Airlink have ambitious plans to expand their partnership further. Future additions to the codeshare may include destinations in Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, St Helena, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. However, the expansion is contingent upon obtaining the necessary approvals from relevant authorities. At present, Air France and KLM maintain a robust schedule, operating up to 14 weekly flights to both Johannesburg and Cape Town. These flights depart from their respective hubs at Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) in Paris and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) in Amsterdam, ensuring that travelers have convenient options to begin their journeys to Southern Africa.

This new codeshare agreement not only enhances travel flexibility but also underscores Air France-KLM's commitment to expanding its reach and service offerings in the region. By partnering with Airlink, the airline group aims to provide a more comprehensive travel experience that connects passengers to both urban and remote destinations throughout Southern Africa
