The eThekwini Municipality, responsible for managing Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, has shared the latest updates on the status of its beaches and swimming pools. As of 06 February 2025, 21 beaches in Durban are open and safe for swimming, while two beaches remain temporarily closed due to concerns about water quality. Meanwhile, 40 public swimming pools across the city are fully operational and accessible to the public.

The following beaches are open for swimming, with operating hours from 06:00 to 18:30:

  • Toti Main Beach
  • Pipeline Beach
  • Westbrook
  • Doonside Beach

However, Brighton Beach and Laguna Beach remain closed for swimming due to concerns over water quality. It's important to note that while swimming is prohibited at these two locations, recreational activities such as sunbathing, walking, and beach games are still allowed.
