NANTA’s Banjul Training: Empowering Agents for Intra-African Travel Boom
The National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) is gearing up for a major training initiative in Banjul, Gambia, designed to equip its members with the skills and knowledge to capitalize on the burgeoning intra-African travel market. Scheduled for the last week of May 2025, this intensive program follows NANTA’s recent 49th Annual General Meeting and builds upon a two-year strategic growth plan spearheaded by former president Mrs. Susan Akporiaye.
NANTA President Mr. Yinka Folami stressed the training’s critical role in empowering travel agents to navigate the increasingly complex and competitive landscape of the travel trade business. He emphasized the association’s commitment to providing members with cutting-edge professional development opportunities, recognizing that continuous learning is essential for success in today’s dynamic market. This focus on training and retraining is a cornerstone of NANTA’s strategy to ensure the long-term growth and sustainability of its members’ businesses.
The Banjul training will delve into the untapped potential of intra-African travel and tourism, offering participants valuable insights into emerging value chains and market trends. This focus aligns perfectly with the broader African travel industry’s push for greater regional connectivity and collaboration. By fostering stronger links within the continent, NANTA aims to create new avenues for growth and profitability for its members, while simultaneously contributing to the overall development of the African travel sector.
This year’s program promises to be even more impactful than previous training sessions, featuring a dedicated faculty team committed to delivering high-quality instruction. The training will cover a wide range of topics relevant to the African travel trade, including destination marketing, sustainable tourism practices, and the latest technological advancements shaping the industry. Participants will gain practical skills and knowledge that can be immediately applied to their businesses, enhancing their ability to serve clients and compete effectively in the marketplace.
Beyond its educational value, the Banjul training also serves as a platform for NANTA to promote Nigerian tourism on a broader African stage. The event will showcase the strength and reach of the Nigerian travel trade, fostering collaboration and partnerships within the African travel community. This networking opportunity will allow participants to connect with colleagues from across the continent, exchange ideas, and explore new business ventures.
NANTA urges all members to take advantage of this valuable training opportunity. The registration deadline is fast approaching, and interested participants are encouraged to contact the NANTA secretariat as soon as possible to secure their place. This training represents a significant investment in the future of Nigerian travel agents, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive in the exciting and evolving world of African travel.
