Air Sénégal Revives Widebody Service on Dakar–Paris Route with Boeing 777 Return Air Sénégal Revives Widebody Service on Dakar–Paris Route with Boeing 777 Return

Air Sénégal has reinstated its widebody aircraft capacity on the critical Dakar–Paris route, marking a notable shift from the transitional use of a wet-leased Boeing 737-800 that has operated since December. As of January 25, the airline resumed operations with a Boeing 777-200, restoring the long-haul experience for passengers on its flagship international connection.

This return to a widebody aircraft follows weeks of operating a narrow-body jet on what remains Air Sénégal’s sole long-haul service, underscoring the challenges the carrier faces with its long-haul fleet. Notably, both of the airline’s Airbus A330-900neo aircraft remain out of service, with one recently deregistered, further complicating fleet availability and capacity planning.

The reintroduction of the Boeing 777-200 is expected to enhance passenger comfort, increase seating capacity, and reinforce Air Sénégal’s competitive position on the busy Dakar to Paris corridor—a route that connects West Africa with one of Europe’s major travel hubs. Despite ongoing fleet constraints, this move signals the airline’s commitment to maintaining and improving its international offerings.

For travel professionals focusing on West African markets, the resumption of widebody service on this route presents fresh opportunities to market enhanced travel experiences and manage capacity for growing passenger demand between Senegal and Europe. It also highlights the importance of agility in fleet management amid the broader challenges faced by African carriers navigating aircraft availability and maintenance hurdles in 2026.
