The private held airline Busy Bee Congo has suspended its activities since Tuesday, December 3, 2019. The Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) has ordered "the immobilization of the entire airline fleet of the company Busy Bee Congo on the instruction of his Excellency the Minister of Transport and the ways of Communications, and that until new order"c an be read in an ACC notification to the carrier.
The suspension comes one week after the Busy Bee Dornier 228 crash, which killed more than 25 people, including ground casualties. On Sunday, 24 November, the aircraft crashed three minutes after taking off from Goma International Airport. The plane, which had 17 passengers and 2 crew members, was on a flight to Beni and Butembo, in North Kivu province. Only one survivor, of Cameroonian nationality, was extracted from the rubble.
Busy Bee Congo has a Dornier 228-100 basic version of 15 seats and two Dornier 228-200 extended version for 19 passengers. It offers regular flights to Beni, Goma and Butembo, cities located in the province of North Kivu.
