Luggage war: Nigeria vs. Turkish Airlines Luggage war: Nigeria vs. Turkish Airlines

The NCAA, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, had banned Turkish Airlines last week from operating into Nigeria.

At the origin of this suspended decision, the multiple complaints of passengers of Turkish Airlines, whose baggage arrives late at destination. "These incidents which lasted for two weeks, became so serious that the last flight arrived without 85% baggage for passengers on board, "said the NCAA. “This problem prompted passengers to make several protest movements at our airport; which poses a great threat to our airport facilities, ”says the Nigerian regulator.

"Given all of this, and the series of meetings held with Turkish Airlines personnel, which has failed to resolve the problem, the NCAA therefore has no choice but to order Turkish Airlines to suspend operations in Nigeria until the airline is ready to operate with a suitable aircraft, which can carry all passengers and their luggage at the same time, "writes the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority.

“ If no remedial action is carried out by your airline this suspension shall be effective from the 16th December, 2019,” the letter reads.
