Air Mauritius: The possibility of liquidation becomes more visible
"I must say that after these six weeks, the option of winding up Air Mauritius becomes more visible," said Sattar Hajee Abdoula, director of the national aviation company, placed under voluntary administration since April.
At a press conference on Monday June 1, at the Grand Thorton office in Ebène, the administrator stressed that the possibility of liquidation would be subject to creditors if the developments do not occur as desired.
"We have very little time to save the company," repeated Sattar Hajee Abdoula, returning in particular to the weekly expenses of "Rs 90 M" in the payment of employees' salaries.
To this end, he gave the guarantee of being able to pay the June salaries.
However, he was to indicate that Air Mauritius will generate Rs 9.5 billion in losses by March 2021. The proceedings with the Redundancy Board have already been started, said the administrator. However, adding that employees can come forward with reasonable proposals.
