Fastjet supports local tourism industry
New travel and destination features are being added to the fastjet website and will continue to feature on their social media platforms now under the banner of “Zimbabwe a World of Wonders”.
As we come to terms with the effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic and its devastating impact on our communities and fellow travel and tourism partners, fastjet is committed to promoting domestic travel for everyone, reconnecting the people of Zimbabwe with the best local destinations.
Standing behind their commitment, fastjet has extended their flexible booking policy for all passengers until the end of September, with unlimited changes and no fees or fare differences to be charged for travellers heading off on overdue visits to see loved ones and friends, business trips or some well-deserved leisure break. The offer is also available for all new bookings and travel in the same period. So, planning has just been made easier for everyone by fastjet. With this policy, the airline has removed any potential additional travel expenses, particularly during the current period of an unprecedented change to our lifestyles, families, industries in Zimbabwe and our beloved Africa.
As part of the strategy, fastjet Group representatives for Brand & Marketing have stated “We are encouraged by the Minister’s recommendation for collaboration and new partnership opportunities. As fastjet we are actively pledging our support to the Zimbabwean Tourism Authority to collaborate in initiating local travel post the pandemic restrictions, promoting the best of Zimbabwe, as locals start to think about their future travel and vacations. We too want the best for Zimbabwe”.
Fastjet representatives, further stated, “Our flexible booking change offer is an unheard-of practice for a value-driven airline group like ours. However, during these unprecedented times, new norms will need to be realised. Our customers are central to all new developments and practices as together with our industry partners we work towards sustaining air travel and building traveller confidence".
Fastjet believes the tourism industry, together with the arts, culture and heritage sectors, are key to the economy of Zimbabwe. Fastjet will be seeking collaboration between key players in supporting the growth of internal tourism;as the new way forward to set the path that will unlock a better and bigger tourism industry for Zimbabwe, as a long term strategy.
Fastjet Zimbabwe will fly again and is currently implementing measures in its readiness to commence flight operations in accordance with new guidance issued by the relevant authorities. Whilst expansion plans which had been programmed for 2020 for travel beyond the borders of Zimbabwe have been deferred, fastjet continues to explore the demand for new routes, as Zimbabwe and our fellow African communities rebuild and unite for the Africa we want to share; rich in culture, creativity and hospitality.
