Somalia about to resume domestic flights
East African nation, Somalia is set to resume domestic flights in the country, after a suspension that was a fallout of the Coronavirus pandemic. The federal government of Somalia said that domestic flights will resume later this week with tough rules given by the health ministry.
Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mohamed Abdillahi Salat Omar said the government will offer (PPE) personal protective equipment and other supplies to contain the spread coronavirus.
Domestic and international flights were suspended in Somalia, in mid March 2020 as part of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19. The Somali government, in addition to the suspension of air transport, also restricted large gatherings as a safety measure to order to curb the spread of the virus.
Somalia has so far reported 2,146 cases of coronavirus while 79 people succumbed to the virus and 406 patients have recovered.
