Trans Air Congo to resume domestic ops
The gradual resumption of Trans Air Congo (Tac) flights begins on Tuesday.
The Congolese private company plans to relaunch its Pointe Noire - Brazzaville route this morning. From Monday to Saturday, flight Q8201 will take off from Agostinho-Neto international airport at 8:00 am, and will land in the Congolese capital at 8:35 am. In the opposite direction, flight Q8202 will depart from Brazzaville at 2:30 p.m. and arrive in the port city at 3:05 p.m. On Sunday, the outward journey is scheduled at 9:00 a.m. and the return at 3:00 p.m. This program is only valid until the end of June.
TAC suspended operations on March 21, when the country’s air, sea and land borders were closed, in an effort to combat the spread of Covid-19. Before stopping its activities, the air carrier served, apart from the route mentioned above, the cities of Douala in Cameroon, Cotonou in Benin, and Libreville in Gabon.
The Pointe-Noire - Libreville - Cotonou rotation had also been relaunched in mid-July 2019, after four months of suspension for unpaid invoices to the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) of Benin, and other structures the country's civil aviation partners.
Beyond these unpaid invoices, the company very often also faces the aging of its fleet. It currently operates a Boeing 737-300.
