DRC reopens borders on August 15 DRC reopens borders on August 15

Domestic and international flights will be able to resume in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) from August 15, 2020. It is indeed on this day that the country will reopen its air, sea and land borders, and will allow the resumption of migratory movements between its different provinces. This is what emerges from the speech of President Félix Tshisekedi, delivered this Wednesday, July 22 at midnight, on the antennas of the Radio-Television Nationale Congolaise (RTNC).

With the resumption of air traffic, suspended since March 20, Congo Airways, alongside other domestic carriers, should therefore resume operations. Based at Kinshasa-N’Djili International Airport, the national flagship serves the main cities of the DRC. It also flies to Douala in Cameroon, Cotonou in Benin and Johannesburg in South Africa. Before the Coronavirus pandemic, it planned to open new lines to Bujumbura in Burundi, Bangui in the Central African Republic, Abidjan in Ivory Coast, Libreville in Gabon, Lunda in Angola, and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

The opening of the borders will also allow the return to the DRC of African and European companies like Ethiopian Airlines, TAAG Linhas Aéreas de Angola, Air France and Brussels Airlines.
