Mozambique: to cross the border only with Minister’s authorisation
In the perspective of the Covid-19 “new normal” outlined by the President of the Republic, the Ministry of Interior has decided to reintroduce the ‘Guia de Marcha’for all national and foreign citizenswishing to enter or leave Mozambique.
Although 22 border crossings (7 land, 10 air and 5 sea) are open again, and President Filipe having announced on 5 August that “we will expedite the resumption of international flights”, the Ministry of the Interior, through the National Migration Service (SENAMI) has decided to subject the entry and exit of Mozambique to an authorisation which recalls the ‘Guia de Marcha’ of pre-democracy days, adds the same source.
“We would like to inform all nationals and foreigners that, if they intend to travel outside the country for urgent matters or return, a request for entry or exit should be addressed to His Excellency the Minister of Interior,” SENAMI deputy spokesperson Leidita Mate Mahanja announced at a press conference last Thursday (15).
