NANTA: slow return to Pre-COVID-19
The Nigeria travel and aviation industry is returning albeit slowly to the pre-Covid-19 pandemic, Mr. Yinka Folami the Vice President of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), Lagos Zone has said.
Folami, however, exuded confidence that the sector would return to the pre-Covid-19 era with consistent information and campaigns to air travellers, focusing on adherence to safety protocols at the airport.
Folami stated these on Wednesday at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Two (MMA2), Lagos when the association gave out 250 facemasks to frontline staff of Bi-Courtney Aviation Services (BASL), operators of MMA2, airport workers, airlines staff and air travellers within the aerodrome as parts of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the people.
He regretted that the advent of the novel disease had impacted negatively on commercial, health and socio challenges not just in the country, but around the world. On the planned resumption of international flights, Folami declared that the travel agencies were prepared to recommence services, but, like the domestic travel, he said it would take a gradual resumption for the international travel to pick.
He explained that apart from the 250 facemasks given out to officials of BASL and others at MMA2, the association also would also give out the same Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), airline operators, International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), amongst others.
In all, he said NANTA has produced 1,500 facemasks, which it intended to distribute to all aviation workers and travelling public across the country. He said: “Aviation business had not really kicked off and it looks a bit slow when it comes to travelling. But, people are getting more and more confident to return to the sector.”
