Air Namibia resumes commercial activities
Air Namibia is finally rescheduling its commercial flights. The Namibian national company announced this Thursday, September 17, the resumption on Sunday, of its domestic connections. The routes concerned are those departing from Windhoek-Eros, and going to Ondangwa, Oranjemund, Luderitz, Rundu and Katima Mulilo, and that between Luderitz and Oranjemund. The line to Walvis Bay remains suspended.
On April 6, the carrier first relaunched its domestic flights after anti-Coronavirus measures were relaxed. He suspended them again on August 12, due to restrictions stipulated by phase 3 of the regulations aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19.
Moreover, its regional and international flights remain suspended “until further notice, depending on market demand and the reopening of the international borders of the countries where the airline operates”. It can therefore reschedule its flights to Harare in Zimbabwe, Pretoria and Durban in South Africa, and Frankfurt in Germany. The latter country has gradually opened its skies since early June, while the other two will follow on October 1. On the Namibian side, international flights resumed on September 1.
On the other hand, it is impossible to foresee the resumption of flights to Gaborone in Botswana, Lusaka in Zambia (two other regional services of Air Namibia) because the borders of the two countries remain closed.
