ASKY returns to Johannesburg
ASKY opens a direct Lome-Johannesburg line. Daily flights, effective from November 19, will be operated without competition in 737-800. To date, the company has restored almost all of its network.
ASKY has announced the resumption of its flights to South Africa. From November 19, the pan-African carrier will offer a daily rotation every day of the week between Lomé and Johannesburg. The line will be offered without competition in the Boeing 737-800.
Before the crisis, ASKY was already connecting South Africa. Since June 15, 2019, it has served Johannesburg, departing from Lomé and Lagos, with a stopover in either Douala or Libreville. Since August 3, the company has gradually rebuilt almost all of its network in Central and West Africa. The resumption of flights to Banjul in Gambia and Pointe Noire in Congo is still expected.
As part of the extension of its network, ASKY planned to launch on April 1, 2020, three weekly flights to Cape Verde. The carrier was also eyeing East Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and France. But in the midst of this pandemic, the company opted for stabilization of gains. “Our expansion plan for 2020 has been suspended, both in terms of new lines and the acquisition of aircraft. We will consolidate what already exists until we come out of the crisis ”indicated in August, Nowel Ngala, ASKY's commercial director.
