German Travel Agency chain sells PCR tests
After a successfully completed pilot phase with three DER travel agencies, all of the more than 500 DER travel agencies now offer PCR tests.
As the company announces, the range of tests for tour operator customers is also being expanded: The PCR tests are available to all customers of Dertour, ITS, Jahn Reisen, Meiers Weltreisen and Travelix, whose booked travel destination requires proof of a negative test result upon arrival.
The test procedure is simple: The guests register with their process number at the email address coronaservice. touristik (at) labor-kneissler. de and receive a test kit for taking samples at home, which is then evaluated in the laboratory. The cost is 129 euros for a single test for single travelers and 199 euros for a double test for two people. The guests bear the costs of the test. According to DER Touristik, the test result will be recognized in the travel destination.
According to Ingo Burmester, CEO Central Europe, DER Touristik wants to create clarity with the offer. "The biggest concern when planning a trip right now is whether you are healthy and whether you may have to be quarantined while traveling," he says.
A test after arrival in the country of travel carries risks, such as a 14-day quarantine in the holiday destination in the event of an unnoticed Covid-19 infection. According to Burmester, PCR testing should always be carried out in the country of origin before departure to protect travelers and people in the holiday destination.
