A 4th Boeing 737-800 inreases ASKY fleet to 10 aircraft A 4th Boeing 737-800 inreases ASKY fleet to 10 aircraft

ASKY received this Thursday, November 19, at the Gnassingbé-Eyadema international airport in Lomé (its hub) a new Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The 14.4-year-old aircraft (msn 30705, ET-ATV) was previously operated by Ethiopian Airlines, its partner airline. It had been operated by Air China between 2006 and 2016.

The 151-seat aircraft, configured in two classes (16 seats in business class and 135 in economy class), is the fourth of its type. Its entry now brings the total fleet of the pan-African company to 10 planes, i. e. 4 737-800, 5 737-700 and 1 Dash8-400.

This acquisition will contribute to the densification of the carrier's network. It was on Thursday that ASKY launched its Lomé (Togo) - Johannesburg (South Africa) route, served daily. The company has also relaunched its flights to The Gambia, via Ghana and Sierra Leone (4 trips per week). Since August 3, the company has gradually reconstituted almost all of its network in Central and West Africa. However, its service to Pointe Noire in Congo is still expected.

Prior to Covid-19, ASKY had its eye on East Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and France. But in the midst of this pandemic, the company opted for stabilization of gains.
