Lufthansa CEO: 'Our industry is ready' to transport COVID-19 vaccines

Lufthansa Group  chairman and CEO Carsten Spohr, speaking at the 2020 IATA AGM, commented (24-Nov-2020) on the timeline for the full distribution of a COVID-19 vaccine globally.

He said the production capabilities of pharmaceutical companies will be the "bottleneck" in vaccine distribution, not the cargo operators.

"Our industry is ready", Mr Spohr affirmed, adding that the industry has been investing in cooling hubs globally and exchanging best practices with IATA and industry partners to enable efficient distribution.
