KL & AF back to Lagos, Abuja on Dec 7
Less than a week after the Federal Government lifted the suspension placed on Air France/KLM over the implementation reciprocity policy, the airline has announced plans to return operations to Nigeria. The airline in a statement by its communication office in Lagos said that it would resume the country’s routes; Lagos and Abuja on December 7, 2020.
The statement hinted that its passengers could now fly from Nigeria (Abuja and Lagos) to Paris and Amsterdam with the possibility of transfer to other European and North Atlantic destinations. The statement said that Air France would recommence its flights into Lagos with four weekly frequencies, while KLM would operate five weekly frequencies from its base in Amsterdam to the same Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
The Air France flight would leave Paris Charles de Gaulle at 14:00 and arrive in Lagos at 21:00 (local timing) on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, adding that the flight would depart Lagos at 14:40 and arrives Paris Charles de Gaulle at 05:45 the next day.
On its Abuja flight, flight AF149 would leave Paris Charles de Gaulle at 12:30 arrives Abuja at 18:30 (local timing) two times a week on Wednesdays and Sundays. Its Abuja flight would be operated by Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
Flight AF148 would depart Abuja at 20:00 and arrive in Paris Charles de Gaulle at 05:45 the next day, two times a week on Wednesdays and Sundays. For KLM, the statement said flight KL587 would take off from Amsterdam Schiphol at 13:35, arrives Lagos at 20:15 (local timing), five times weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Flight KL588 would leave Lagos at 22:45, arrives in Amsterdam Schiphol at 05:35, five times a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The flight would be operated by Airbus 330-200. Michel Colleau, General Manager Air France KLM Nigeria & Ghana, insisted that flights to and from Lagos and Abuja would be operated in strict compliance with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and international health protocols.
“And will adhere to the highest standards of health and hygiene. We also wish to assure all our customers that we have taken precautionary measures to ensure that our operations are conducted safely, comfortably and responsibly. The safety of our passengers and crew will always be our top priority,” he added.
He declared that the wearing of surgical masks was compulsory onboard the aircraft and throughout the duration of the trip, stressing that the air in the cabin is renewed every three minutes.
