Project of the Week: Radisson Blu Harare
Seeking to realise the bold ambition of creating a new icon for Harare, this forthcoming Radisson Blu property looks set to dramatically enhance the city’s skyline.
Following the past two decades of restricted development, Harare is now moving towards a new era of growth. As well as adding an eye-catching landmark to the cityscape, Radisson Blu’s latest outpost promises to create plenty of jobs for locals, while also providing wider economic benefits in the form of increased tourism.
The high-tech contemporary design hotel will be situated alongside Chapman Golf Club, looking out over this verdant landscape to the east and a much more built-up environment to the west. OODA is leading the design of this NSSA House-owned property.
The proposed structure positioned to take into account the city’s best visual spots shows the inspiration that OODA has taken from Zimbabwe’s famed balancing-rock formations as well as the texture of local crafts. The staggered-tower concept it is envisaging will no doubt deliver truly memorable hospitality experiences to guests.
Altogether, the five-star hotel will house 245 guest rooms, 40 long-stay residences, an all-day restaurant, a speciality restaurant, a cocktail lounge, a pool bar and a grill. Guests will also be able to enjoy an Amani Spa and a private gym, complemented by the inclusion of two swimming pools and a kids’ club.
The property is currently aiming to complete in Q4 2022.
