Irish lessor Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) announced the delivery on November 26 of a new Embraer E190 msn 19000187) to private South African company Airlink.

This new acquisition will help strengthen the operations of the carrier, which is currently positioned as the largest regional company with the widest network in all of southern Africa. Airlink, an IATA member and IOSA certified since 2006, is the largest operator of Embraer aircraft in Africa. Its fleet includes more than 50 planes including E135 / 140 and E170 aircraft. In 2019, the company carried nearly 2 million passengers on more than 63,000 flights to 39 destinations in nine African countries and on the island of Saint Helena.

Since resuming operations, Airlink has relaunched its services to the 15 main economic and tourist centers in South Africa. The company has also resumed its flights to Zimbabwe (Harare and Bulawayo), Zambia (Lusaka, Ndola and soon Livingstone), Namibia (Windhoek and Walvis Bay), Lesotho (Maseru), Eswatini (Sikhuphe) and Mozambique (Maputo, Pemba, Beira and Vilanculos). Flights to Gaborone (the Botswana capital) and Maun restarted on November 16 and December 1, respectively. She will return to Kasane on December 16, with a return to Uganda, Angola, Madagascar and Île Sainte-Hélène. Last June, Airlink ended 23 years of collaboration with South African Airways, with which it was linked by a franchise agreement.
