KRC launches night servie between Nairobi and Mobasa
The service launched on January 4 and will operate in both directions on Mondays and Tuesdays. Both trains will leave Mombasa and Nairobi at 21.00, arriving at their destination at 03.00 the following day. The trains will serve seven intermediate stops.
A regular end-to-end single ticket will cost Shillings 1000 ($US 9.15), and first class tickets will be Shillings 3000. Children between ages three and 11 will be able to ride at half of the cost of an adult fare. Children under three can ride for free.
Passengers will be exempt from the nationwide 22.00-03.00 coronavirus curfew, which was recently extended until March 12, and will be able to disembark immediately upon arrival.
The overnight train is the route’s third regular service in addition to pairs of trains departing at 08.00 and 15.00. Continuation of the service is subject to the level of passenger demand.
