Silver Dawn floated out at Fincantieri shipyard Silver Dawn floated out at Fincantieri shipyard

Silversea ‘s new luxury cruise ship, Silver Dawn, a sister ship to Silver Moon and Silver Muse, has touched water for the first time, floating out at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. The float out of Silver Dawn  marks one of the most important stages in her construction timeline, and will be followed by fitting out at one of Fincantieri’s wet berths.

“We proudly celebrate this major milestone in the build of our beautiful new Silver Dawn,” said Roberto Martinoli, President and CEO of Silversea Cruises.“Our long-term collaboration with Fincantieri continues to push boundaries in the ultra-luxury cruise industry, while the ongoing support and expertise of the Royal Caribbean Group has been invaluable to the ship’s build,” he added.

Silversea Cruises’ acquisition by Royal Caribbean has enabled the cruise line to embark on a major expansion program, growing the fleet by several ships. Silver Dawn will be the line’s tenth ship overall when she is delivered, and will be the sixth vessel in its mainstream luxury fleet. Silversea operates an additional four luxury expedition cruise ships, the latest of which is Silver Origin, delivered in 2020.

Silver Dawn is a sister ship to Silver Muse and Silver Moon, meaning she will share their external styling and many of their definitive features, with eight restaurants, a huge pool area, and the S. A. L. T dining concept, along with a passenger capacity of 596.

However, Silversea has also said that she will be tweaked to cater to evolving guest needs.“While Silver Dawn takes influence from our beloved ships Silver Muse and Silver Moon, our guests will benefit from many pioneering enhancements aboard the tenth ship in our fleet. We look forward to revealing these in the coming months,” said Martinoli.

Silver Moon, when she was launched in 2020, debuted a larger spa, for example, than that found aboard Silver Muse, while a number of her bars and restaurants were moved around to ease passenger flow.

“Based on the very successful design of Silver Muse, Silver Dawn is the fourth ship we will have built for Silversea,” said Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager Merchant Ships Division of Fincantieri.

“For a shipbuilder there can be no better acknowledgement than the one of a demanding and prestigious owner who welcomes innovation with enthusiasm,” he added. “We are therefore extremely proud to celebrate the launch of this ship. She consolidates the technological and management leadership of our Group which takes on even greater value in the very challenging situation we are experiencing,” he said.
