Tanzania Railways continues with next phase of SGR Tanzania Railways continues with next phase of SGR

Isaka – Mwanza which is 341 km long, is the fifth phase of the SRG project.

The United Republic of Tanzania through Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) and a joint venture with two Chinese companies 'China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation' (CCECC) and 'China Railway Construction Corporation' (CRCC) have signed a contract for the construction of the fifth phase of the SGR line.

The construction of the modern railway line - Mwanza - Isaka is part of the completion of the first phase of the SGR project from Dar es Salaam to Mwanza with a total of 1219 km, whose construction is divided into five (5) phases - which are Dar es salaam - Morogoro 300 km, Morogoro - Makutupora 422 km, Makutupora - Tabora 371 km, Tabora - Isaka 162 km and the fifth phase being - Isaka - Mwanza 341 km long.

The contract is for thirty-six (36) months and the project value is 3.0677 Trillion Tanzanian Shillings. Opportunities available include; employment, raw materials and building materials.
