Air Tanzania signes interline agreement with Air India Air Tanzania signes interline agreement with Air India

Air Tanzania announced on January 18 that it had signed an interline agreement with Air India.

This agreement allows passengers of the Tanzanian national carrier to Mumbai to continue their journeys to other Indian cities served by the Indian national carrier, through a single ticket. In return, Air India customers will have access, again with a single ticket, to the Air Tanzania network in East and Southern Africa.

For the CEO of Air Tanzania, this partnership is necessary to strengthen its international presence, in particular for its travelers who wish to explore India and the countries of the Far East. R. Chandramoul, India’s deputy high commissioner in Tanzania, said the deal will boost trade between the two countries. At the end of November 2020, these were estimated at 1.4 billion USD. Currently, Air Tanzania offers 3 weekly flights between Dar-Es-Salaam and Mumbai.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the Tanzanian flag also flew to New Delhi, the Indian capital. For its part, Air India does not connect India to Tanzania. Its only destination in Africa leads to Nairobi, Kenya, departing New from Ahmedabad. Domestically, the Indian national flagship serves some forty cities across the country.
