Fly Angola obtains its CTA and targets more Embraer aircraft
The Covid-19 period has not been easy for Fly Angola. The Angolan private company took advantage of the suspension of its commercial activities (in March 2020) to reorganize.
Since December 23, Fly Angola is now flying on its own, having obtained its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) two days earlier.
Launched in late 2018, it has until now operated as a virtual carrier alongside its technical partner AeroJet, deploying an Embraer ERJ-145 on domestic flights in Angola. The company now has its own device (MSN 145221) painted in its own colors. According to General Manager Belarnício Muangala, interviewed by Martin Rivers, the fleet growth plan includes the acquisition of a second ERJ145 and an ERJ120. From its Luanda base, Fly Angola currently flies to four domestic routes, namely Dundo, Lubango, Saurimo and Catumbela. The opening of a line to Cabinda is expected in 2021, "a year of hope", according to Muangala. According to the latest statistics published by the National Institute of Civil Aviation (INAVIC), until 2016, 10 companies held an operating license on the domestic lines of Angola. They are: Aerojet, Air Guicango, Air Jet, Air 26, Heliang, Heli Malongo, SJL, Bestair, Sonair and TAAG.
