Uganda Airlines, which started its activities in August 2019, has chosen new and modern planes in the strategy of building its African and international network.

Less than 2 years after its launch, it now has 6 aircraft including two long-haul aircraft.

Uganda Airlines welcomed its second Airbus A330-800neo on Tuesday February 2.

Registered 5X-CRN, and christened Mt. Rwenzori, the aircraft touched down at Entebbe International Airport at around 7 a. m. (local time) from Toulouse, France. The aircraft is the second of an order of two. The first plane unit was delivered on December 22.

Uganda Airlines’s new A330-800neo can accommodate up to 258 passengers in configuration 20 in Business class, 28 in Premium class and 210 in Economy class. It is powered by the latest Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, features increased wingspan, A350-inspired Sharklets, and consumes 25% less fuel per seat. These A330-800neo will be used to serve the future long-haul lines of the Ugandan national company.

These are Dubai, London, Mumbai and Guangzhou.

Uganda Airlines, which started its commercial operations in August 2019, had until then operated a homogeneous fleet of 4 Bombardier CRJ-900s. Its growing network includes Nairobi, Mombasa, Mogadishu, Dar Es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, Bujumbura, Kinshasa and Juba. Roads that it has gradually reopened from October 1, 2020, after more than seven months of suspension due to Covid-19. The company is also eyeing routes to Johannesburg, Harare, Lusaka, Khartoum, Asmara, Addis Ababa and Cairo.
