Unpaid debts: TAV Tunisia suspends the seizure of Tunisair bank accounts Unpaid debts: TAV Tunisia suspends the seizure of Tunisair bank accounts

Tunisair owes TAV Tunisie 20 million euros for services provided at the Enfidha-Hammamet international airport. In 2019, the Tunisian national company paid him only 1% of the amount due.

To constrain the indebted carrier, the port manager initially opted for an act of seizure of his accounts. TAV Tunisia suspended this Friday, February 19, the seizure procedure on Tunisair bank accounts. The operation launched this week by the manager of the international airports of Enfidha-Hammamet and Monastir Habib Bourguiba, aims to regain possession of part of the debt of 20 million euros owed to it by the Tunisian national company.

A liability relating to the rental of premises, and landing taxes at Enfidha airport, since 2015. In 2019, Tunisair, which is experiencing financial difficulties, only paid 900 thousand dinars (273,000 euros). If TAV Tunisia has opted for this muscular option, it is because, despite several attempts at negotiations, she explains, the Tunisair company has not presented any proposal for either payment or rescheduling of its debts., favoring rather for delay.

It is ultimately the intervention of the government that comes to appease the situation. In a press release published today, the Ministry of Transport informs that the decision to suspend the seizure was taken at the end of a meeting held between the Tunisian subsidiary of the Turkish airport group TAV Airports, Tunisair and the Office of civil aviation and airports (OACA), chaired by the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Moez Chakchouk. During this meeting held at the Ministry of Transport, it was also agreed to start negotiations between TAV Tunisia and Tunisair for the settlement of all the debt, and the end of the related schedule. The three parties are expected again at the ministry next Friday, February 26, for the finalization of the agreements.
