Air Tanzania makes Guangzhou its 2nd destination outside Africa
Air Tanzania will open a direct route between Dar-Es-Salaam and Guangzhou on March 20. The Tanzanian national company announced it on social media this Friday, March 5.
It provides for 1 weekly flight(every Saturday) between the Tanzanian capital and the Chinese city. This will be carried out in a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with 260 seats (22 in business class and 240 in economy class). This route was supposed to be launched in September 2020, but it was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Once this corridor is operational, China will become the second country served by the carrier outside Africa. Since July 17, 2019, Air Tanzania has been flying to Mumbai in India. This line was reopened on November 9, 2020, after almost eight months of suspension due to a health crisis. In its growth plan before the appearance of the coronavirus, the public flagship also planned to extend its wings to West Africa, Europe, and America, by 2022, after having densified its fleet (from 9 to 14 planes).
Since the resumption of its international connections on September 8, the public flagship is also back in the Comoros, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. However, flights to South Africa and Burundi remain on hold. On the other hand, the Tanzanian pavilion has never suspended its domestic network, which has ten routes. On the contrary, he rather strengthened it in mid-June 2020.
