LAM-Linhas Aéreas Moçambique acquires a Dash 8-400
On March 9, LAM-Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique announced the signing of an exclusive transport contract with Total Mozambique. As part of this partnership, the Mozambican national company must provide the French oil company with a Dash 8-400.
Moçambique's LAM-Linhas Aéreas fleet is growing in density. On Sunday March 14, the Mozambican national carrier took delivery of a new Dash 8-400 which (MSN 4175) was leased from Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC). The 13.6-year-old plane is the first the Danish company leases from the Mozambican state-owned company. It will certainly be made available to Total Mozambique, as provided for in the contract signed with the local subsidiary of the French multinational which entered into force on March 1.
This agreement makes LAM the exclusive transporter of the oil company throughout Mozambique, in particular on the Maputo / Pemba / Afungi route. This new acquisition completes the carrier's fleet which includes 2 Boeing 737-700 and 2 Embraer ERJ-190). Its domestic subsidiary, Moçambique Expresso, has one Dash 8-400 and two Embraer E145.
Currently, LAM regularly serves Johannesburg (South Africa), Dar-Es-Salam (Tanzania), and Nairobi (Kenya). "For operational reasons", this last route will be temporarily suspended from March 29th. Domestically, the company links the capital Maputo, with the towns of Beira, Pemba, Afungi, Lichinga, Nacala, Nampula, Tete, Quilimane, Chimoio, Vilankulo and Inhambane.
