But the situation should change soon. High-ranking discussions were initiated this week between the management of the company and the Guinean government to open a connection between Cairo (Egypt) and Conakry (Guinea) via Niamey (Niger).

This is the subject on which the Guinean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Guineans Abroad and the Director General of Air Cairo discussed. Dr Ibrahima Khalil Kaba and Hussein Sherif met this Tuesday, March 16, at the headquarters of the Egyptian public company, in Cairo. A meeting that took place on the sidelines of a working visit lasting several days, which the member of the Guinean government is currently making in Egypt.

"The General Manager of Air Cairo, after having made a brilliant presentation on the opportunities offered by the market Guinean, largely informed the Guinean delegation of the evolution of the steps aimed at achieving the objectives they have set themselves as soon as possible. He therefore seized the opportunity to seek the support of the Guinean side in order to obtain the fifth freedom permission on the Niamey - Conakry route,”said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Guineans living abroad.

At the moment, there is no connection between Egypt and Guinea. Moreover, if this project materializes, Guinea will become the first African country served by Air Cairo. Although based on the continent, the low-fare carrier flies mainly to the Middle East and Europe. Its most recent routes lead to Rome, Milan and Naples in Italy, Copenhagen and Billund in Denmark, Oslo (Norway), Stockholm (Sweden), Zurich (Switzerland), Düsseldorf (Germany) and Samarkand (Uzbekistan). The launch of all these routes is aimed at maintaining tourist activity in Egypt.
