Dana Air and Ibom Air sign interline agreement Dana Air and Ibom Air sign interline agreement

This is quite rare among African domestic carriers.

In Nigeria, Dana Air and Ibom Air have entered into an interline agreement that will enhance connectivity as well as the customer experience for passengers traveling with the two airlines. The announcement was made by Ibom Air chief operating officer George Uriesi.

It was on the sidelines of the quarterly meeting the Round Table Initiative on Aviation Safety (ASRTI), held on April 29 under the theme "Using interline and code-sharing agreements as tools for the profitability of national airlines and passenger comfort.”“ We are in the last phase […] In May, we will launch it,”he said. This agreement will allow passengers to travel between the networks of the two carriers with a single ticket and at a lower cost. From its base in Abuja, Dana Air currently offers domestic flights to Lagos, Uyo, Enugu, Owerri and Port Harcourt. The carrier, operational since November 2008, operates an MD-83 and Boeing 737-300 fleet. Ibom Air, for its part, is also deploying to Abuja, Lagos and Enugu, in addition to Calabar.

From its base in Uyo, the carrier which started operations on June 7, 2019, operates five CRJ-900s, a fleet it intends to double within 3 years. Outside Nigeria, Ibom Air also aims to expand its network to West and Central Africa, and possibly East Africa. The destinations under study are Accra, Libreville, Malabo and Douala.
