Air Sénégal opens reservation systems for its USA flights
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Air Senegal continues to intensify its network.
Since the beginning of the year, the Senegalese public company has added 5 new routes: Milan, Lyon, Cotonou, Douala and Libreville. On long-haul, Air Senegal is now going to conquer the American market with two new destinations.
Air Senegal will open its first transpacific route from September 2. From Dakar, the Senegalese national company will offer 2 weekly flights to New York and Washington. Reservations, already open on its website, indicate that the route will be operated by Airbus A330neo. It is precisely its first A330-800, registered 9H-SZN, which should be deployed on this route.
The 290-seat aircraft (32 First Class, 21 Business Class and 237 Economy Class) is legally operated by Hi Fly Malta. In fact, in its request for service to the US Department of Transport on February 21, the carrier specified that "none of Air Senegal's aircraft will be used to provide the service envisaged in this operation. Air Senegal is currently in talks with the United States and foreign carriers regarding codeshare, interline and wet lease agreements.”On the outward journey, flight HC407 will take off from Blaise Diagne International Airport in 1:30 a.m., will pass through John Fitzgerald Kennedy between 6 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., to finally land in Washington-Dulles at 10 a.m. On the way back, flight HC408 will leave the capital of the United States at 8:25 p.m., will stop in New York between 9:55 p.m. and 11:55 p.m., arriving in the Senegalese capital at 12:25 p.m. local time. Air Senegal estimates that approximately 42,224 passengers will be carried during the first year of service.
